Callid Keefe-Perry

Callid is a husband, father, and a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). He worships at Fresh Pond Monthly Meeting of New England Yearly Meeting and travels in the Ministry within and beyond the Friends’ denomination. Currently he is working toward his PhD in Theological Studies at Boston University’s School of Theology, where he focuses on Practical Theology and Religious Education. Broadly his work is at the intersection of imaginative and creative practices and their connection to pedagogy and spiritual formation.

GUEST BIO:

Peter Enns (Ph.D. Harvard University) is Abram S. Clemens professor of Biblical Studies at Eastern University (St. Davids, PA). He has taught undergraduate, seminary, and doctoral courses at numerous other schools, including Princeton Theological Seminary, Harvard Divinity School, and Temple University.  Enns speaks and writes regularly to diverse audiences about the intersection of the ancient setting of Bible and contemporary Christian faith. He is a frequent contributor to journals and encyclopedias, and has written, edited, and contributed to nearly 20 books, including The Bible Tells Me So: Why Defending Scripture Has Made Us Unable to Read It, Inspiration and Incarnation: Evangelicals and the Problem of the Old Testament, and The Evolution of Adam: What the Bible Does and Doesn’t Say about Human Origins, winner of the 2012 ForeWord Review Book of the Year Award in Religion (adult nonfiction).  Enns resides in suburban Philadelphia with his wife Susan.

 Today my guest is Dr. Wendy Farley a Professor of Christian Spirituality and Director of the Program in Christian Spirituality at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Farley, a premier theologian who has written extensively on women theologians and mystics, religious dialogue, classical texts, contemporary ethical issues, and contemplative practices, has been a member of the faculty of Emory University since 1988. She is the author of many books and articles, including the one we will discuss today, The Thirst of God: Contemplating God’s Love with Three Women Mystics (Westminster John Knox, 2015) which hexplores the spirituality of medieval mystics Marguerite Porete, Mechthild of Magdeburg and Julian of Norwich.
