He comforts the frighted and bewildered.<\/p>\n<p>He says in the most soothing way possible,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Chill, ya&#8217;ll.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When Jesus scares the stink out of his followers as he walks on the lake to meet them one a dark and storm night, he says,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Easy now..It&#8217;s okay. It&#8217;s me!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When Jesus is about to be arrested by a friend-turned-backstabber, then tried by a rigged court, and brutally tortured and killed, he spends time building up the courage of his followers and giving them condolence.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+14:27&amp;version=NLT\">John 14:27<\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am leaving\u00a0you\u00a0with a gift\u2014<b>peace<\/b>\u00a0of mind and heart. And the\u00a0<b>peace<\/b>\u00a0I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don\u2019t be troubled or afraid.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+16:33&amp;version=NLT\">John 16:33<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>I have told\u00a0you\u00a0all this so that\u00a0you\u00a0may have\u00a0<b>peace<\/b>\u00a0in me. Here on earth\u00a0you\u00a0will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>When the disciples are grieving from his death, terrified and meeting behind locked doors, he comes to them, his scarred hands outstretched\u2013offering solace and reassurance.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<i>Shalom aleikhem<\/i>!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s no small thing.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Our invitation is to do the same.<\/h3>\n<p>In trying circumstance be the voice of peace.<\/p>\n<p>Be the source of calm.<\/p>\n<p>Be a comforter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><em>And to those who like to over-mention when Jesus angrily overturns the tables at the temple as a way to justify their seething rage, I say, &#8220;peace&#8221;.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(If you enjoy this, please share it.
