It was a most sacred festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 Dionysus was a patron of the arts!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For Greeks, Dionysus\u00a0was credited with creating\u00a0wine and spreading the art of viticulture (the horticulture of grapes). <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 He had a dual nature;\u00a0on one hand, he brought\u00a0joy and divine ecstasy;\u00a0or he would bring madness, brutal and blinding rage\u2013a good depiction\u00a0of\u00a0the dual nature of wine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 He was brought back to life\u2026like grape vines that undergo brutal pruning and look dead, but then burst back to life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 Blood and <strong>red<\/strong> wine are often linked for the ancients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(Blood gives the body life, wine has powerful bodily effects.)<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And now to spark your muse!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2014\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nikolai_Berdyaev\" target=\"_blank\">Nikolai Berdyeav<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All the products of a man&#8217;s genius may be temporal and corruptible, but the creative fire itself is eternal, and everything temporal ought to be consumed in it. It is the tragedy of creativeness that it was eternity and the eternal, but produces the temporal, and builds up the culture which is in time and a part of history. The creative act is an escape from the power of time and ascent to the divine&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today we&#8217;re thinking of the creative process as\u00a0re-imagined and being\u00a0\u201cdivinely co-operative\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We (commonly) think of <em><strong>genius<\/strong><\/em> as applied to us in a personal way like a characteristic. A natural capacity, but the Greeks seem to have a much healthier view of what the process of creation is truly like\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 For the Greeks \u2026divinity is always present.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 A <em><strong>genius<\/strong><\/em> = an unseen guardian,\u00a0or\u00a0custodial and protecting spirit\u2026who gives a human inspiration: For the Greek, we each have one. (It\u2019s not us; but it will help us.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Three reasons why depersonalizing our part in the creative process is helpful:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. Failure is not personal<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2. Success shouldn\u2019t cause arrogance<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3. Patience and giving up control (not forcing it) will reinvorgate your creativity<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>What do you think?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Is the creative process a &#8220;divine
