I present these two passages to you, from my own meditation time today, for your own reflection. Either one is a good choice for meditative prayer (Lectio Divina) which I have written about in previous posts. (You can do a search, or click on the appropriate category at the bottom of the page, for the 4 movements typical to this prayer form.) I have taken these two passages from the material offered in the Holy Bible: Mosaic by Tyndale, pages 58-59.<\/p>\n

After reading these, please share your reflections.<\/p>\n

Psalm 29:3-4<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The voice of the LORD echoes above the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

The God of glory thunders.<\/span><\/p>\n

The LORD thunders over the mighty sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

The voice of the LORD is powerful;<\/span><\/p>\n

the voice of the LORD is majestic.<\/span><\/p>\n

O Love, How Deep<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

O Love, how deep, how broad, how high,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

it fills the heart with ecstasy,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

that God, the Son of God, should take<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

our mortal form for mortal’s sake.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

For us he was baptized, and bore<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

his holy fast, and hungered sore;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us temptation sharp he knew,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us the tempter overthrew.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

For us he prayed, for us he taught,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us his daily works he wrought;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

by words and signs and actions thus<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

still seeking not himself, but us.
\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

For us to wicked men betrayed,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

scourged, mocked, in purple arrayed,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

he bore the shameful cross and death,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us at length gave up his breath.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

For us he rose from death again;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us he went on high to reign;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

for us he sent his Spirit here,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

to guide, to strengthen, and to cheer.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

To him whose boundless love has won<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

salvation for us through his Son,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

to God the Father, glory be<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

both now and through eternity.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
