“The Inklings”<\/strong> were a group of authors\u00a0who met together, up to twice a week, for 17 years and included the likes of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.<\/strong> \u00a0Without the rigorous, encouraging, and\u00a0collaborative nature of this group, great works like The Lord of the Rings<\/em> and\u00a0The Chronicles of Narnia<\/em>\u00a0might not have made it to final form.<\/p>\n

Dr Diana Glyer’s<\/strong>\u00a0scholarly work into The Inklings took her over\u00a020 years<\/span> to compile and craft into her dissertation published asThe Company They Keep<\/em>. Her scholarship altered the prevailing\u00a0notion about the group and how it functioned. Her more recent general-audience book, based on that scholarship, called Bandersnatch<\/em>\u00a0includes the most interesting\u00a0stories about CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien’s friendship\u00a0and explains how we can learn from the way\u00a0the Inklings worked together. Today\u00a0we talk about how we can apply that wisdom into\u00a0our own creative endeavors and collaborations.<\/p>\n
