So, I&#8217;ve gone from Professor to Gilligan before teaching even one class.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4549\" title=\"gilligan\" src=\"https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan-350x249.jpg 350w, https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lisadelay.com\/blog\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/gilligan.jpg\"><\/a>I think it will go just fine&#8230;but getting from here to there with 3 days preparation time will be reminiscent of crunch time during final exams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will you please pray for me? Seriously.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the next few weeks, I&#8217;ll share some of what my class will be learning. (Okay, I admit, I like how the words &#8220;my class&#8221; sound.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>First a definition: What is worldview?<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-weight: normal; line-height: 22px; font-size: 13px;\"><span style=\"color: #660099;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">A <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">worldview<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> is a working theory of reality, used for living in the world. It is<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> a framework of ideas, beliefs, attitudes about the world, others, God (whether you believe in him or don&#8217;t) ourselves, and life. It includes a comprehensive system of beliefs \u2014 with answers for a wide range of questions. <\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-weight: normal; line-height: 22px; font-size: 13px;\">We all have a worldview, but many of us have never really examined it, or thought about it, all by itself, and in contrast to worldviews of other generations, cultures, and religions. Our worldviews collide. Watching one segment of bickering at Fox News will tell you that.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-weight: normal; line-height: 22px; font-size: 13px;\"><strong> By our worldview we come to understand our values, on a quest for truth.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-weight: normal; line-height: 22px; font-size: 13px;\">It is said that the worldview of modernity could be (generally)\u00a0comprised of the years <\/span>1789 (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Storming_of_the_Bastille\" target=\"_blank\">Storming of Bastil<\/a>le)\u00a0to the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berlin_Wall#The_Fall\" target=\"_blank\">Fall of the Berlin Wall <\/a>1989. We now live in a time of transition which some term <em>postmodernity<\/em> or <em>hypermodernity.<\/em> The predominant hallmark of the era being\u00a0the underlying assumption that \u00a0&#8220;Truth is &#8216;&#8230;a mobile army\u00a0of metaphors, metonyms, and anthropomorphisms&#8230;&#8217; &#8220;. A.k.a Truth is different for you than it is for me (relative truth). Or, Truth is what you think truth is.<\/p>\n<p>In our times, Science is questioned or discarded as the supplier and authority of truth with the common conviction that objective truth\u00a0may or may not exist. Therefore, truth is inaccessible due to the nature of one&#8217;s personal standpoint of all knowledge claims.<\/p>\n<p>CASE IN POINT:<br \/>\nWitness the decades long &#8220;4 out of 5 Dentists recommend Trident gum&#8221; advertising campaign?
