Here&#8217;s the 411"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a big fan of Brett McCracken, the author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Hipster-Christianity-When-Church-Collide\/dp\/0801072220\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1293048141&amp;sr=8-1\">Hipster Christianity<\/a> (Baker, 2010). He is a regular blogger I read too, <a href=\"http:\/\/stillsearching.wordpress.com\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Art, and specifically, film, have a unique way of introducing themes and truths, even those we&#8217;ve forgotten. Or it may re-intorducing ones we have <em>forgot<\/em> that we forgot. <em>The Big Fish<\/em> (Tim Burton) did this for me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I haven&#8217;t seen the film The Tree of Life, from\u00a0Terrence Malick, but my enthusiasm is now whet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Like the narrative style of the Bible, <em>story<\/em><\/strong> can bypass our protective\u2013but growth inhibiting\u2013cynicism, or shortcut our ineffectual preconceptions. Apparently<em>, The Tree of Life<\/em> may have this in spades.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the wooing\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.relevantmagazine.com\/culture\/film\/features\/25726-why-you-should-care-about-tree-of-life\"><em>The Tree of Life<\/em> article done for RELEVANT magazine, by Brett McCracken<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s a short <em>Excerpt <\/em>I really enjoyed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Finding \u201cChrist figures\u201d and \u201credemptive themes\u201d in the movies can be overdone and convoluted, but if ever there were films where it was appropriate and natural, it would be Malick\u2019s films&#8230;The Tree of Life, for example, is one gigantic whistle-stop tour through existence, taking us from Genesis to Revelation, reflecting on the nature of God all along the way.
